Dr. Joshua Kembero Ogega

Dr. Joshua Kembero Ogega
Managing Partner
Dr. Joshua Kembero Ogega is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and the firm’s Managing Partner. He holds a PhD in Law from the City University of Hong Kong. His PhD research focused on the effect of Artificial Intelligence applications—used by Google and Facebook—on the right to freedom of expression. He also holds a Master of Laws (LL.M) degree in Human Rights and Democratisation in Africa from the Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria; a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from Moi University; and a post-graduate diploma from the Kenya School of Law’s Advocates Training Programme.
Joshua is a lecturer at Moi University’s School of Law where he teaches Tax Law, Constitutional Law, Human Rights Law, and Employment Law. Previously, he taught at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa. He has extensive experience in human rights law assignments, legislative drafting, litigation, as well as public policy formulation, and is an expert on the interplay between Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the law. Joshua worked as an intern—and later as a Legal Associate—at Manyonge Wanyama and Associates Advocates from September 2014 to August 2019. He also interned at Bowmans Kenya (Coulson Harney LLP) and at the Commission for Revenue Allocation.
While at Manyonge Wanyama and Associates Advocates, Joshua successfully played a key role in major constitutional, environmental, land, and labour cases that have left an indelible mark on the development of jurisprudence in Kenya. Some of the reported cases he has successfully argued include:

- Conducted a Legal Audit of Kenyan Laws and Regulations on Agriculture for adherence to the Constitution for the Kenya Law Reform Commission (November 2017 – August 2018).
- Developed a Handbook for Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights in Kenya for FIDA Kenya (September – October 2017).
- Drafted the Kenya National Policy on Gender and Development (June – August 2016).
- Participated in a workshop for the review and further drafting of the Kenya National Investment Policy (December 2016).
- Prepared a review on constitutional issues affecting trade in the draft Kenya National Trade Policy for the Council of County Governors (September 2016).
- Participated in the drafting workshop for the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights’ Handbook on Human Rights-Based Approach Development to Kenyan Law in Machakos (October 2016).
- Prepared a legal advisory for the Council of County Governors on the legality of the NHIF Insurance Proposition on Reproductive Health Care (July 2016).
- Reviewed and further drafted the Alcoholic Beverages Association of Kenya’s Constitution (January 2016).
- Drafted a Model Alcoholic Drinks Control Act for the Alcoholic Beverages Association of Kenya (March – May 2016).
- Drafted the Bungoma County Agricultural Training Institutes Bill, 2016.
- Reviewed and further drafted the Bungoma County Persons with Disabilities Empowerment Fund Regulations 2014.

Mr. Samwel Kerosi Ondieki is a Senior Partner in the law firm. He is dedicated to advancing knowledge, skills, and proficiency aimed at equity leadership, oversight, and service to humanity for legal and constitutional fulfillment, enhancing the respect and safeguarding of constitutional goals. He describes his core values as integrity, professionalism, teamwork, humanity, brotherhood, hard work, discipline, determination, dedication, and service delivery.
Mr. Ondieki graduated with a First Class Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from Nagpur University in New Delhi, India, in 1990 with first class honours. He has previously served as the pioneer Speaker of the Kisii County Assembly between 2013 and 2017. As one of the first to test the rights enshrined in the Bill of Rights of the Constitution of Kenya, he filed Kisii High Court Petition 181 of 2010, Kerosi Ondieki vs. Ministry of Interior and Security Affairs, the Attorney General, and another, challenging the use of pregnancy as a barrier to recruiting women into Kenya’s disciplined forces.
In that capacity, he served as the Constituency Educator for Nyaribari Chache for the now-defunct Committee of Experts (COE) during the drafting of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010. Between 2006 and 2007, he engaged in civic education with Wilfred Omariba on Egesa FM’s “KNOW YOUR RIGHTS” programme. Between 1999 and 2004, Mr. Ondieki served as the Chairperson of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) Kisii Branch, passionately advocating for the rights of lawyers and citizens.
He was previously a partner at Nyagaka, Mosota, Isaboke, Kerosi Ondieki & Associates Advocates and Kerosi Ondieki & Company Advocates. In his free time, Mr. Ondieki enjoys reading, writing, travelling, drama and music, watching documentaries, football, and legal-political movies.

He previously worked as a legal officer at the County Government of Kisii, where he defended the county in numerous court cases, honing his analytical, time management, and interpersonal skills alongside litigation expertise. At the county, he was involved in litigation, drafting legislation, and preparing MoUs, particularly defending the county in employment-related cases. He developed proficiency in thorough legal research and in interpreting complex legal issues to provide sound advisories to the county government.
Ong'iti has exceptional drafting skills and is adept at preparing legal documents, MoUs, contracts, leases, and legislative bills. Kevin is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a partner in the firm. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from Moi University and a postgraduate diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. Additionally, he holds a Diploma in International Trade and Transport Management from Kharkiv National University, Karazin, Ukraine, and a Diploma in the Russian language from the same university.
Previously, Kevin was a partner at Mochiemo Gichana and Co. Advocates, where he specialised in Commercial Law. He provided legal support to clients on day-to-day business operations, including drafting legal documents such as demand letters and contracts (merger agreements, partnership agreements, employment contracts, NDAs); anticipating legal concerns based on clients’ operations; assisting in policy formulation with client stakeholders; overseeing negotiation processes; providing legal assistance for regulatory compliance; and updating clients on current legal processes and new laws to ensure optimum business practices.
Kevin also specialised in conveyancing and land matters. He assisted clients in drafting/amending Agreements for Sale to protect their interests, preparing transfer documents, overseeing the completion process of land transactions, advising on conveyancing transactions, conducting due diligence on property titles, calculating adjustments of rates and taxes, advising on stamp duty payable, preparing court pleadings, and representing clients in land disputes.
